    jobserve vs LinkedIn vs ??

Fresh on the bench after a two year gigs

Jobserve seems to have turnedinto a Financial services IT recruitment portal these days.

Are there new jobsearch sites that agencies and companies are using?

Anyone using linkedin on any other specific sites for jobsearch?

I put mine on Monster for agents to pick up, they call me if they have anything that matches (I'm waiting for an interview at the moment from this route). It's not my favourite approach but it has got me contracts before now.

Otherwise it's LinkedIn with network contacts.

Do you open your doors to agents (as it were...)?

On Linkedin? Yes I accept any request (although my connections are hidden)

I do this too, but have recently started to wonder what other information is available to a connection.

e.g. Can they see the companies that I follow (which are usually previous clients or clients that I know of that use my skill)? Can they see my recommendations (which are by previous clients). [too busy to check right now]

I find I get a lot of job offers thrown my way through LI, even though I'm not currently looking. I also hide my connections to try and stop agents fishing for developers and DBA's etc

I am coming to the end of a 2.5 year contract and started looking also – LinkedIn I would concur, seem to be getting a number of agents contacting me from seeing me on LinkedIn (and I like that you can see who is viewing your profile and with the upgrade, I can see what searches I am appearing in)

Jobserve I was not a fan of previously, though most of my previous contracts came from agents finding my CV and contacting me – I presume that they have moved onto LinkedIN now for that. Applying for jobs on Jobserve always seems pretty hopeless since half the jobs are not really there, the same job is duplicated several time over by different agents

I might try Monster – I thought that was mainly permie, though with the market as it is, I may start looking down that avenue as well.

Getting a few more offers via LinkedIn (mostly permie) since I have added the word 'Consultant' to my profile. I find that pimps really want to 'connect' just so they can view your other connections. A professional, polite reply and 'not interested' can suffice.

I'm not currently looking but have had a couple of LinkedIn approaches in the last month. Good skills matches too.

LinkedIn jobs section is predominantly perm roles as far as I can see.

I work in Banking so Jobserve is good too.

Also have a list of agents that I would work through that I contact directly, one's who have got me a contract before or who seemed genuine when I was talking to them.

My list has no S3 companies.
