Want to move onto a PMO support role

I am currently working as a Process/Project analyst.
I have 4+ years of software development experience and 3 years as a project co-ordinator in IT/Telecoms industry. I was responsible for a small amount of project management while working as a developer.
However, I am interested to work in the metrics side of projects, and hence looking for PMO roles.
I am currently working towards the Prince2 certification.
I have put my CV on many job sites but no response. What should I do inorder to get called for an interview?

Any Advice appreciated.

Welcome to CUK

With no contract experience you can't expect any agent to contact you. You have to find the contracts you think are suitable and contact them.

First off are you a contractor or permie? You make no mention of contracts so I can only presume you are permanent. This is a contractor site so advice here will not always be the same for perm roles.

From a contractor perspective you are being brought in as you possess skills the client does not. The idea is that we are specialists in our field and can hit the ground running as well as possibly bringing some extra value to the client.

What we cannot do is be trained on the job or get gigs based on the fact we are a good asset and can grow to be good for the company. That is pure permie mentality.

If you go for a PMO job you can bet your bottom dollar there will be 20+ other people that will all with many years of experience in exactly that field AND are experienced contractors. Remember as a new contractor you are also a risk as you may be less inclined to finish the role and deal with your affairs properly.

Difficult for the reasons NLUK gives. Best bet may be to concentrate on industries where you have experience and when companies where you have worked and are respected.

Dont just put your CV on the jobsites and wait....find the jobs and CALL the agents. Can't hurt....

lol....yeah, well obviously don't apply for the head of PMO just yet!

But making a few calls will at least let him know where he stands and he can lower expectations, etc. Better then just sitting there and wondering why no one has called....

If you are permie, get some permie experience and then look at contracting. Are there any opportunities at your current org you could develop a career plan to move into ?

Having a good understanding of what you want to do and the skills needed to move into it is always a good place to start. You can go redesign your CV to show where your skills match those of a PMO/PSO/PSSO (they aren't the same...).
