I would gladly take the two weeks off at the moment go somewhere sunny and hot

Anyways, those two weeks "forced leave" most probably will be will be recovered at the end of the project, so happy days.

Hi all, I am new here...

In my last Bank, All contractors had to take a full Month "Holiday" before they resumed with a fresh contract.

Some managers did ask a few contractors to stay away for a few days when the Snow was too deep and some of the team's Perms decided to work from home. It was reasonable to assume that productivity would be very low so there was no point in paying contractors for little return. Nothing wrong with that, Just good business.
You have to thank the Olympics for this "Bonus". So why not take a break and feed bananas to the monkeys in the Zoo?

If you delay your retirement by two weeks you won't lose anything.
        I'm alright Jack

Hmm, I have been working far too many weekends for so long but I still have to delay my retirement? I must be doing something wrong.

Not a real saving as you will still take 3 days to do the work. It's just a paper saving for the accountants.

              FFS!

Who says I'd get the 3 days back at the end?

Last place I was permie with made all contractors take 3 weeks off for xmas. They;re argument was that less work was done in this period anyway.

Fair enough and quite within their rights but penny pinching a few quid caused a bit of bad feeling. And they managed to screw themselves when stuff was needed before xmas - the contractors had all gone home....
