I've just been turned down for a job because acording to the agency it was like a school kid had done it! I admit its not the best but still. Anyway does anyone know of a good website for tips and stuff for cvs?

Get it professionally done my friend...this is your no.1 marketing tool and has to be spot on...I spent several hours on mine, I then spent £60 giving it to a company to do it...I then picked another company and paid them £120...I then spent some more time on it myself to get it exactly as I want it.
I have so far been contacted on every role I have applied for...so was it worth the investment, you bet ya -
The format I use that seems to work is:
Total length no more than 3 pages. 2 is ideal if you can manage it. Keep it clear and simple. Your competing with a ton of other CV's and your's needs to be quick easy to read, even for an agent.
Title and name. Centered in Bold.
Summary of skills - Tailored to match the spec of the job you are applying for where possible. No more than 10 lines.
Availability.
Previous roles in reverse order i.e. most recent first including dates. No more than two paragraphs to each. Make them shorter the further down the list you go.
Professional Qualification and memberships.
Contact Details.
Layout is in two columns.
|section name | Details.....................................|
|.../ dates......| ..............................................|
No spelling mistakes or punctuation errors, at all. None.
Use a clear legible font. TNR or Ariel 10 or 12 point work well.
Minimal Underlining and Bold text. Used sparingly it makes an impression. Over use just looks desperate."Being nice costs nothing and sometimes gets you extra bacon" - Pondlife.Comment

You on £750+ a day fella???
Your local Newsagent probably does their own marketing and they will say how they are always pretty busy and make a nice living...but they're not Tesco now are they...do they do their own...er...no...
If ever you want to better yourself and move on from the corner, let me know and I'll give you some pointers!
