Here is a question no one has ever been able to explain to me. Why don’t companies simply source their contractors and permies directly through job boards? That was what was supposed to happen many years ago when Monster and the other me – 2’s came on the seen.
Because despite what many of the coding drones on here will tell you, there's alot more to being an agent, than matching a few keywords.

Also, put an ad on Monster... See how you feel about it afterwards... You'll get it then

Most clients have ‘preferred’ suppliers or ‘approved’ agencies. Once 4 agents approached me about the same contract but a one-off.
Let me know if you need further clarification.
who told you that? In my industry (admittedly non IT) if I've got something people want, they'll find a way to do business with me. They can scream about pal etc, but the p stands for preferred, not exclusive.

          No one’s told me.
I know the difference between and preferred suppliers and exclusivity thanks.

We are not allowed obscene gestures or images in prof forums so representing the agent would be a problem

                  I select my candidates.

Candidates go to client, who select who they want to interview.

                  One person gets the job.

If I've selected the one who gets the job, I get paid. If I select the person who doesn't get the job, I don't.

Let me know if you need further clarification.

You migth think you select your candidates, but in reality your canditates select you.

They might select you because you are a prefered supplier and there are no other options.
They might select you because you were the first to put them forward.
They might select you because you offer the best rate.
But they definately don't select you because of your charming personality.

You really are an arrogant <snip> of the highest order, who fails to realise his only reason for having a job is to mitigate some of the risk of contracting and has to make beleive he is the worlds answer to all its problems just to validate his own stupid, petty existence.

I would like to know which body part of the 10th 'selection' was not required?

Back in the day when agents had to work for their money, they spent years building a portfolio by actually 'representing' the contractor and didn't need to advertise on monster etc.
