Thanks Chimp, unfortunately I'm one of those who hadn't been in contract for ages , and took the lower rate to keep my skills fresh (it was sold as needing a load of great skills).

Here I am, filling out a spreadsheet , working for complete numpties and having no hands on exposure or involvement with the skillset at all.

You're right though, at least I'm being kept a bit busy and the money is coming into the business account..

Why do agents totally lie about the jobs though? They could tell the truth and give someone an opportunity to take a step up , rather than con someone to use non of their skills for 3 months then have to leave, making their contractor record look bad (I always think renewals sell, 3 monthers don't).

Just to update my own thread..

      BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMED

Agreed usual rate, with the clientco from heaven ... I can't believe it - it all came at once, I've had 3 interviews and 3 offers in 24 hours.

Now..... how to break a 4 week notice period with this client that I've just overran

I've never been in this situation and hate it, but am also quite angry that I was completely duped into the role - it is 5% relevant to what was advertised.

Or maybe I'm just trying to justify being a mercenary.

                  Maidenhead isn't bad

Try doing something that's classed in your contract as dismissable - turn up drunk a few times?

No problem at all. From direct experience of this scenario, just make up some random excuse and leave quietly. Life’s too short to worry about such things. They shouldn’t have messed you around in the 1st place and they will soon hire someone else.
