State of contract architecture market in london

I'm thinking of moving back to uk after 6 years in aus and was wondering about the state of the contract market for architecture roles, either solution or data/information architect roles. I've had a look at jobserve and it looks pretty dire out there. Are architecture roles typically filled by permies? Am I wasting my time looking for a contract architecture role?

    Cheers

Dire is about right. I have architect friends and unless you know someone who can guarantee you a job budget for 6-12 months looking for a role.

The entire London are for architect roles... that is specific? I know what you mean but the whole style of question doesn't really lend its self to a specific answer so thought the 3 pager may have given him a general insight as well.

              Hi,

I am an Architect and have had no problems finding work in London. Had 2 interviews on the same day and got both jobs.

Yes I did but it didn't really answer my question hence my post. There seems to be a handful of architecture roles available on a contract basis. I find that staggering for a city the size of London. Might have to pitch myself at other roles if I can't get something in the architecture space.

                Cheers

                  Hi porrker

Wha kind of architecture work do you do. Are you a generalist or are you skills specific to a certain technology? Am a bit worried I'm going to invest all the time and effort moving back and then struggle to get work? I presume the best place to look,is still jobserve. Do you know any architecture specific recruitment agencies who only recruit architects? Is there any value in approaching them first?

I made the move from permie to contract in February and got a Solution Architect role in London within a couple of weeks of leaving my permie job. I'm also still getting calls for other contracts so it seems to not be too bad at the moment.
