My Latest Plan B idea - Equipment Hire

Recently was looking to hire some equipment for a particular event (type of event is not seasonal) and really struggled to find anything available. I then looked at the business model and I thought must be worth a try:

    - Equipment affordable to start off on a small scale
    - Profit margins very high - main cost is transport
    - Can gradually expand - offer more locations and products

Does that not sounds like a decent plan? I have all the skills in place to put together a website with online booking system etc. as well. So can make it more scalable over time.

Anybody else thought fo this or tried it out?

Without knowing the equipment it's impossible to say.

Does it matter that much? It's something that is relatively easy to transport and setup and doesn't cost that much (£500ish) and can be hired for about £150/time.

I thought every man and his dog had tried bouncy castles until H&S ruined it.

A friend of mine had one for hire and had to skip it because it had the inflatable bars running across as you look in. H&S said no as kids can't be seen so the 'bars' had to run front to back. He got a regulation one and then some kid fell off and hurt themselves. He got caught up in a wrangle over responsibility, was it the parents responsibility or his. As it was all done cash in hand he was up against the wall. Nothing more then a bruise and it got dropped but scared him so much he gave up totally.

Not all quick schemes are good ones IMO.

If something is as easy as you say I am sure many people will have tried it. Mainly poor people though, I wouldn't waste my evening or weekend for £150 a time.

Smart Alic. Anyway it's not quite bouncy castles but something similar but less agro. Basically I am thinking that parents will pay anything when it comes to kids - so the easiest way to make money....

Indeed but I am a pesimist here. If it is that easy everyone will be doing it. Love to be proved wrong and it works for you but it's not for me. I am busy designing a set of plastic luggage for kids that look cute and they can be pulled along on when they don't want to walk........

Kid Clamping and towing away lmao. Parents might pay you to clamp them but I'm not sure about them actually wanting to release them, let alone pay a fee!!

Well yes of course it does. As Northenlad says. It may well be an item thats quite common and you were incapable of finding / or per your second point parents don't want them but you do. And to that point, no parents won't pay anything.
