Have you seen the contract for the bank yet? have you had it reviewed? You should be using terms such as 'accept the gig subject to contract review' or something so you have an out. You could blag it failed the review so you are not taking the gig if it makes you feel better. Still won't go down will with the agent but you haven't technically accepted outright.
What is the exactl situation of the exchange then, guess you have interviewed, seen a contract? agreed it? getting it reviewed or what?
Either that or just tell them you don't want it and f**k em. They won't be happy but nothing else should come of it.'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!Comment

Better the devil you know - I'd always take a slightly lower rate at home than be away.Comment

In 2 years time everyone will have forgotten, there will be new PM's etc etc. Send an e-mail to the agent saying you've got a better offer, and switch off your phone.
Or phone him up, don't beat around the bush, tell him and he'll start to moan, but even at that point you'll be feeling good, because you did it.
Just think 2 hours commute every day, month in month out, year in year out, you'll be saving hundreds of hours of your life.Last edited by BlasterBates; 18 November 2011, 15:13.I'm alright JackComment

IMHO Go for local.Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.Comment

You've got a young kid as well, the kid has to spend 90 minutes longer in the Nursery every day rather than spend it with you.
If it was just you and you wanted to get Banking/Finance on your CV then fair enough. But with a kid the local job is a no brainer IMO.
What did you have kids for if you'd prefer to work rather than spend time with them?Comment
