I was wondering if anyone could provide some guidance on typical rates for being on-call.
At the moment, I get 4 hours pay for carrying the on-call phone for Saturday and Sunday 9am to 6pm. It was announced that the team I am contracting into will going forward have to provide 24/7 cover. So if you are on-call you will in additional to the normal working week be obliged to be available from 6pm to 9am Mon to Fri and the full 48 hours Sat and Sun. If you get a call, it could something that could be sorted on the phone you you would have to go on site and stay there until resolved.
However, the rates announced for this are 0.6 hours pay for each weekday night(15 hours cover) and 4 hours pay for weekend(48 hours cover) for carrying the phone and less that my current hourly rate for every hour while on site, which to me is rubbish compared with original rates.
What would be typical remuneration for providing this type of cover?
