    Agency asking for manager's details

    Hi,

I have just been called by a agent sharking for information. Foolishly I gave her all the information (including my manager's name!!) thinking the vacancy was genuine. I am currently in perm. role. Would that agency use my name to contact the agency and would it have any ramifications?

    Thx

PS hate to admit but I feel like complete idiot.

      Of course we won't!
<Insert idea here> will never be adopted because the politicians are in the pockets of the banks!

To be honest the original post doesn't even make sense to me so can't help.

Have you read the sticky called 'I just need to get two references....' at the top of this page? It should help with your situation and educate you about other similar ones so you don't look such a dick next time.

THat's the worst case scenario. And even then your manager will say "no s/he is not, you conniving bastard agent" and put the phone down.

A much more likely outcome is the agent will ring up and make some lame sales pitch, which your manager will find annoying at the time (and every time it happens at regular 8-week intervals after that) but ultimately think nothing more of it.

Thanks. If my line manager do suspect that I am looking to leave can they make excuses to make me leave? Mind you that the company need good people and its struggling to find quality people for my role. (Does not mean I am indispensable though)

PS Also thinking about emailing agency that I am not looking for work at the moment and remove my details from their database?

Here's an email which I am thinking of sending to cover myself

                    "
I have been contacted by your office recently that weather I am looking for new role. I am currently not looking for new work/role and would not like to be contacted by anyone in future.

Can I please ask to remove all my details from your database for security, data protection and other reasons? I also ask to stop processing any of my detail held on your record for recruitment or marketing purpose.
