yes indeed. Maybe I could have got a consultant perm role for 50k but this would mean I would be at the mercy of the employer who could send me to any UK location at a time of their choosing for x months at a time. I'd rather send myself to whatever location suits me at a time of my choosing. And get paid more for it. -
Err. Don't all the contracts end up being crafted to be IR35 friendly? Of course, it is the actual work practices that matter so that isn't working out at your new place - what part of it?Originally posted by 2BIT View PostI've just taken a 600 a day role, it's subject to IR35Comment

interviewed for a few of those types of roles and came to the same conclusion, in fact having worked with a number of consultancies I know I could be sent to say scotland for 6 - 9 months and not have a lot of choice about it... ) but consultant permie jobs are the worst of both worlds - the travel and stay over of contracting and the tripe and normal pay permiedom

£600/day and you are working through an umbrella. Do you know how much unnecessary tax you are paying?Originally posted by 2BIT View Postwell im going through an umbrella at the mo so despite my working practices being IR35 friendly I get caught by going through the umbrella company - and I say this with no certainty just what I've heard

Yeah having double checked I would have been caught by IR35 for my last three contracts so using an umbrella is just easierOriginally posted by Wanderer View Post£600/day and you are working through an umbrella. Do you know how much unnecessary tax you are paying?

If you take the permie you'll have an "intangible benefit", you're less likely to be on the bench, you can be ill, a slightly better pension, you will have attended internal seminars and be "more valuable" and a gym card,
So what do you want 30-40 grand extra in the bank or "intangibles", your choice.
