Replaced by a Technical PM although I was hired as a PM

So my manager said to me that he will be replacing me with another Project Manager because he wants a Technical Project Manager for the project that I am doing. However I was never hired as a Technical Project Manager. Is there something that I can do to push back on that and get them to pay me till the end of my contract or something?

    thank you.

    No.

You're a contractor, that's what the client can do.

Find another contract and move on.

As long as he has given you notice there isn't a bean you can do really. That is the whole point of contract to the client to give him flexibility. If he has terminated immediately there are a couple of options but I guess he hasn't or else you would have mentioned it.

In fact you said replacing. Is he finishing you or finding you other work?

Thanks for this. He is replacing me with a Technical PM. Actually a friend of mine was moved to another department and he made a fuss so they paid him until the end of his contract and he was not even working! So this is where I am coming from.. Can I do something similar?

Well, if someone else got something try it and see. If you don't ask you don't get.

I think that shows a lack of understanding from the client. He probably wasn't aware or wanted to invoke the notice so your friend was very lucky!

What is your notice period. How would we know what your client will do?

As harsh as this sounds, it's common. More often than not I see the female PMs being kicked off projects for not being technical enough - which is utter tulip. As the others have said, it's to be expected. I sympathise with you though.

I am sure they would be kicking them off if they wern't techincal enough full stop. I am sure it has nothing to do with being female.
