    Freelance MBA?

    Hi all,

The search feature won't accept a three character string so...

I'm thinking of taking an executive MBA - lots of reasons for and against BUT ignoring that for a moment - what's the freelance market for MBA qualified consultants?

Google isn't bringing much up, but I can't believe it's dead and I'm hoping they get four figures/day rather than three

There isn't a market just for MBA qualified people, however there are plenty of people skilled in various business and IT functions who also have MBA's and find the qualification is handy for prising open the door to interviews.

If you're thinking of pure management consultancy then yes there's some demand, but without some pretty niche and specialised skills/experience 4 figure day rates are quite frankly cloud cuckoo land.

Qualifications count for not a lot in this game.

      • MBA Recruiter
      • BUSINESS ANALYST - MI - BANKING - LONDON
      • Cerner Millennium Technical Integration Architect
      • DESKTOP SUPPORT ANALYST
      • Hardware Technical Support
      • Hardware/ Desktop Support
      • International Product Manager
      • Middleware Admin/ Support roles
      • Middleware Support Consultants/ ETL Reporting
      • Online/ Mobile Strategy Project Consultant
      • Partner Engagement Manager - Data Center
      • PMO Analyst
      • Technical Business Analyst/ Developer

Wanna buy an MBA? I know a certain London School of Business that sells them to Bobs for £7k.

I've a mate who has just started an MBA, he is however a proper business consultant and businessman who will make good use of the learning he will gain.

He'd bloody better cos it's cost him 40k.

If you just want a certificate to put on a CV, I'd think very carefully before you splash the cash...

Hmm, that's pretty cheap, maybe I should add an MBA to my qualifications collection.

If I had the time and inclination I'd study for an MBA(I believe Sas is doing this as well as developing a new killer app) but it's not going to be a clincher.

Frankly I'd spend a little more time learning German. Quite a few Euro roles ask for dual languages. Much better bet IMHO.

Well yeah I did the searches too, but Jobserve has always been IT focussed.

Qualifications alone don't count for anything, true, but in my experience if you study (and I know a lot don't) for a qualification, the education does count.

              Unless it's a step change in rates, I won't bother...freelancing anyway.

In the case of IT Contracting though, it needs to be technology related. So for example Microsoft qualifications Yes! MBA. No.
