The MBA won't make you into a business consultant, in fact unless you're 20 something it probably won't even get you a permie job in a consultancy as a business consultant; too much competition for those jobs. It will help you become business analyst in IT projects however, and help open doors for technology projects where you need business knowledge. I imagine it would be very difficult to become a lone freelance business consultant, I reckon you'd need to be in a firm. The MBA really is more useful for permies wanting to climb the career ladder, or wanting to switch into a commercial role like sales.
