According to him, London is only the zone 1 in tfl map.

It depends how people limit their intelligence/Work Area choice.

I just book big batches of tickets. Currently I have each weekend covered from now up to 9th May. All First Class and total cost = £0
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

      I preferred version 1!

So what? You can get to Watford on the tube if you want to, but it's not London. Obviously Canary Wharf and Hounslow are both treated as being London (those were just examples), but most big cities have a large central area and then a hugely extended zone, outside the 'suburbs' even, which keeps expanding as the years go by. Those areas aren't what outsiders would class as being London if they came for a visit to see the sights.

I've worked in both Canary Wharf and Hounslow and felt as remote from London there as I do when I'm at home up North. Central London is a big enough area anyway. If you're going to commute into London daily from another city, there's little point in doing a double-commute by going all the way out to some godforsaken satellite town which happens to be stuck on the far limit of the London Transport network.

I wouldn't even consider doing a double commute. It has to be close to Euston otherwise not even worth considering.

Stay off the tube and get a bus if you can.... far better.

The tube would be the killer on that journey. The interchanges take much longer than you realise and they are very hectic. Not to mention the busy tube trains themselves. Can you not walk or take a bus from Euston? Where is the contract?

Only choice is the Victoria Line. Fastest tube in London, but v. busy. It will be packed out at Kings Cross and you'll be lucky to squeeze in under someone's armpit.

Do yourself a favour and walk back to Euston after work whenever the weather is nice. The backstreets of Fitzrovia and the gardens of UCL are much nicer places to be than having your nose pressed against the sliding door of a tube train. It will keep you sane. And it may be just as quick -- those tubular corridors and stairs are much longer than you think.

Oh, and if you do walk regularly it may be cheaper to put the tube journeys on an Oyster instead of getting a Travelcard (and still a business expense of course .)

That's no more than half a mile. Walk it.
