Allegis Group have been fine, invoice monday and payment received on the friday.
WA Consultants - monthly invoices, paid on the friday after invoice received.
What's the point? Now you're a few months in you are getting paid regularly.
Technically, they are holding my money for roughly 3.5 weeks. If I get the money same week, I can use that money somewhere else. You see, even if the money earns me few quid in interest, it adds up. Though I won't be too keen on fighting over the terms now, but something to add to the checklist for next contract.
Yeah, I found Hays to be very efficient and pleasant to deal with.
I can't complain about any of the agencies I've worked through in the last ten years, to be honest. I did have one that used to pay on random days each month, within about a ten day range, which used to irritate me because it was so unpredictable, but I can't remember who they were now. And that was nothing compared to the one time (and one time only) that I went directly through the client with no agency and ended up chasing payment for nearly three months after invoicing. That was so tiresome and nerve-racking that a few days delay here and there with an agency seems like luxury.
Some Agents pay before the Client pays them like Modus who I believe use facturing services, but some wait for their payment which means that 45 days is more common.
Communication is important. make sure that the agency emails you when they expect to make payment, so you know where your money is in the chain.
Typical scenario seems to be Agent receives their payment say Monday and they only have a payment run on Thursday then your Umbrella company receives the cash Monday so its in your bank say Thursday

WHS I can agree, often when you go direct the hassle chasing invoices that are several months late is an absolute nightmare.
Some of the agencies I've been with are fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend them.

Only agency I'd really recommend is Professional Systems Personnel. Negotiated a higher rate than I asked for, no contract hassle, paid promptly and took us all out for a meal at the height of the recession a few years back. Also sent me a new diary.
Lorien who I got my first contract through were good when I worked through them. An agent at Recruitment Zone actively found me a role when the 2001 recession was in full swing. Payment terms were a bit tulipe though.
Spring, Hayes, Parity were all pretty tulipe. I worked through Parity for over 3 years with one client and they used to tell me they'd negotiated an extension for me when I'd actual organised it myself! Havent heard a peep out of them in over 12 months now.
Hayes just seemed to be like a temping agency who branched out into the professional arena.
Due to current client having a sole supplier agreement, current through Adecco \ Comp People. They are the tulipiest agency I've work through. They know **** all, have tulip contracts although I got a professional to renegotiate some dreadful clauses out.
1st Recruitment were quite good and also got me a rate higher than I quoted.
LA International for promptness and service.
Élan (yes, I know..) for their online timesheets, promptness of payment and SMS texts when the money's gone into your bank account.

The problem for some of us is we don't get the chance to choose anyway. If a role comes up when you're on the bench (or approaching that stage) you take it, unless you have doubts about the financial viability of the agency concerned.
