Anyone worked for Sky in Osterly?

Any info on what they are like to work for. The Osterly site looks like a right nightmare to get to from almost anywhere.

I work in the Great West House part of Sky, which is nearer to Boston Manor Station. There is a Sky Bus that goes from Osterley station to the main campus, if that is of any consolation. Yes it's not as frequent as the TFL buses, but it is fairly good service.

BTW, which team are you going to be contracting in?

I'm also at GWH. It's my first contract role ever and I'm ludicrously happy. Mind you the fact that I've found lodgings at half market rent, two minutes walk from The Lord Nelson, Brentford (20% of food for Sky people) probably has a lot to do with it :-)

Plenty of contractors here and a great atmosphere. Coming from mega-high stress permie jobs into this is just wonderful - admittedly I don't have previous contracting experience to compare it to, but personally, I'm loving it - and that's even with travelling to and from Sheffield at weekends.

Drop me a PM (and anyone else from Sky here) and maybe we could meet for a drink?

I worked at Glaxo up the road. you're right it's a nightmare to get to from anywhere. I drove in from newbury and it was typically 1hour 40 each way. 2hrs wasn't uncommon. nowhere to park on the roads either - all residents parking zones.

          Not strictly true.

I use to work near there and I had no problems getting there.

Let me guess. You are not on the 5th Floor then?

I worked at Sky for 20 months up until Dec 2009 - mix of GWH and West Cross House.

If you have a good manager there... it will be no problem. If your manager is disorganised and doesn't sort out your paperwork and timesheet approvals promptly... will be a damn nightmare.

I went through 5 mangers in 20 months, and ended up managing a team of people. I'd certainly go back there again. Lots of challenges, and some interesting folks. Few muppets, fair number of good folks. All-in-all outweighed the less-than-ideal location.

Those of you who have worked there, what kind of roles did you perform?

I agree with this. I am about to renew with Sky, so it is good. Work is ok, nowt great, it provides an income. Lots of politics. fun fun fun.
