Got a quick question. I've been SC cleared since 2007 but my SC lapsed last year when I started my current role which also needs SC but they have been slow to get things sorted so now I've had to re-apply. No big deal, except one of the questions was have I been investigated by the hmrc or dwp?
I have an open enquiry about a year I used an EBT, I don't want to get into the morality of that, I disclosed this on the form, I just said they have an enquiry open for that tax year but it is not a criminal matter.
I've not been asked this before on an SC application before, obviously I've been honest and if they want to ask me further questions I'm happy to elaborate. Do you think this could be an issue?
I'm not guilty of a crime and have disclosed it.
Thanks in advance.Last edited by dirk; 5 January 2016, 09:16.Comment

Ok I think I've shown due diligence and have trawled this thread for the answer to the question but none seems to be forethcoming so here goes
Q : My contract may end before the clearance comes through. Can i check the progress of my sc clearance application anywhere? If I leave the company before i get the clearance, is there a way to know i got cleared?
We do not know the answer to this one yet. Hopefully the person that asked this question will appraise us as his circumstances change.
Would the client put the brakes on the SC application or is it not possible to cancel an application once it has been initiated?
If I were to make an intelligent guess I would say that you can probably cancel the application and get a refund up to a certain point in the proceedings but by the time my 6 weeks is up I'll be well past that stage, indeed I'd expect to have the approval by that stage but I'm hearing it can take upwards of 8 weeks sometimes.aComment
