Sorry, you only have 14 years experience...

How on earth did the client arrive at the necessity for 15 years experience.

Seems this is a little ageism going on here I feel.

What in reality is the difference between somebody with 5 years experience in this area, and 15??

It's not about 'somebody' but the numbers.

I wonder just how many qualified applicants this gets.

      I bet Bob qualifies.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Not many I expect, seeing as JDK 1.0 was released in 1996.

I can only assume they have some really flaky old tulipe that needs updating. Maybe I should get my books out...

While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

I think they must be after James Gosling.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Your right, the person with 15 years is just the same as 5 years, but 3 times over. After 5 years you're not learning anything new, just repeating yourself.

                All a bit strange...

                  That's exactly my point.

I suppose it just goes to show how picky clients are becoming lately.

As has been mentioned on here, I did not have skill 37 which happened to be SVN as I have used CVS in the past, which is practically identical, however an agent refused my application on this basis.
Roll on the good times again when clients (and agents) actually start using their common sense.
