I had a Gov client that had a office up there, always enjoyed nights out with the locals. Do the pub rounds down by the Quay, quite a few good eating places as well. Also a great curry house in town that do a killer dish - if you can eat it an keep it down, you eat for free.

If you want to wind up the local folk, ask them if the new castle is anywhere near the old castle in the city centre.

The only minus points I recall was the crappy metro system from the airport.

Apart from that, its all good.

The guys I worked with were fantastic - as was everyone else I got to know. But as a southerner living in Newcastle I had quite a few non-friendly comments thrown at me by people I didn't know. The only place I've ever lived in the world where that was the case. I loved living there none-the-less.

If I hadn't have married a Welsh lass, I'd still be working there now.

Like any other city, parking can be difficult & expensive but the Metro is 1st class.
          You ain't seen me, right!

Manors multi storey is cheap and close to the city centre. And its free of glass on the floor which is generally a good sign in car parks!

            Metro is excellent.

If I hadnt of had kids, I'd be living there now with someone else!

I've always wanted to go and experience the legendary "Broken Doll" pub. Maybe I'll finally get round to it this year!

                    Haymarket?

I was going to take the missus to one of my fav pubs just over the Central Motorway, the Stout Fiddler. Good ale and good food. Bit studenty sometimes. Called something like Moot now! Pah!

The Old George in the city centre is a good pub though and the Lambton at Eighton Banks is very good.

Its a National Express bus station

Living in the sticks, I'm a connoisseur of farmers watering holes and quality pub/restaurants. Corbridge is full of quality spots
