This thread has made me giggle a lot. Tyke, you are a pedant, and thank goodness you are!

'John', I loved your original post the most though. My CV is on it's way to you, as well as my car keys - I will bend over in a mo. HTH.

Probably wise, incidentally YOU'VE would have been every bit as meaningless as YOUR in what you wrote.

Yes I'm a pedant, but I have good reasons that I've posted a few times on CUK.

English has a lot of words that are very similar so context is critical, use the wrong one and the context is destroyed which takes the meaning in collateral damage.

      To Mary too

Dammit! I have posted over 480 posts dreaming of the day I see this reponse to one of my posts and someone pips in and gets it on his 2nd post. Life is just not fair

Grower, don't take offense to Tyke. I fell foul of this a number of times and was duely educated and to be honest I don't think I have done it since in any document/forum so actually owe Tyke my thanks. Least I can say I actually learnt something from my time here

Exactly; Tyke does have a good point with regard to punctuation. Cavalier misuse is a source of much frustration for us both.

Mind you, not as irritating as the new poster who uses "lol" - that should be made illegal.

          duly

I agree users of lol, U and UR type txtspk should immediately result in the brutal and messy execution of the offenders.

I noticed the duly error too to Mary.

                    Pedantic? Guilty as charged M'lud.
