    Wrong working hours on Contract

    Evening,

A number of us have just started in a PMO team and, a couple of weeks, down the line it looks like a couple of pimps involved have dropped a proverbial ****** by getting our hours wrong.

My contract is for 35hrs a week, another is 37.5hrs with the rest on 40hrs.

It look like we should all be on 40hrs a week, in fact the person on 37.5hrs has just been told by their pimp that an amended contract in the post.

Now I know the reality is that I'm likely to get a similar call from my pimp no doubt as the days pass but I was just wondering if anyone has been faced with this before and actually got anything positive out of it, i.e. squeezed a bit more daily out of the pimp as technically the scope of the role has changed and I will be doing more hours.

    Thoughts?

    Cheers,

    WK

    Your assumptions are quite right.

If you are paid £x per day, then you want 40/35 * rate £/day as compensation, or 40/37.5 per day as compensation as appropriate.

If you are on an hourly rate and they want to increase your hours, given the state of the market, just do it and consider yourselves lucky.

Edit: BTW, they may not have got your hours wrong; they might be telling lies just to increase their margin so they can afford their children's Xmas presents. If you are a charity, cave in and let them roger you for more work for less money.
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.

If you're on a day rate, you bill one day for any 24 hours in which you do work for the client, or any lesser amount if you;'re feeling generous. That's what "day rate" means. If the contract specifies a number of hours, you're not on a day rate, and should expect to be paid for hours worked.
      Blog? What blog...?

Really, any proposed change in a contract is negotiable and could be cashable. But first check your contract to make sure that the number of hours specified on the front sheet is actually referenced in the contract - often it isn't.

Most if not all contracts also have a condition regarding 'errors or omissions' so all the agent has to do is refer to this.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

Actually my day rate and hours are stated on the contract.....sorry I meant to add that I have to actually book my working hours to the time-recording system here so do I just carrry on working/booking my 35hrs, wait for the subsequent conversation when my line manager when she flags my pimp's mistake and kicks-off the updated contract (to 40hrs) dialogue with him (and maybe a chance for to up my rate) or flag this now and get it out of the way.

Sounds like a permie mindset to me.
