As soon as you see private number, you just have to take a deep breath and break into those stores of cynicism you save for the pimp on the end of the line.
I've been looking for a contract for a few weeks. A while back I got a call about a job in Milton Keynes - a case of "thanks but no thanks" from me. But the agent was clever enough to notice I was still on the market 3 weeks later and rang me back again about the same job. I still wasn't quite desperate enough to take it but he sounded really sad about it. I thought, that contract must be killing him if he's having to ring up the same guy a few weeks later to try and fill it. Best of luck!

The number on my CV is a PAYG mobile that I only switch on when I'm looking for a contract. It's probably saved me hours of wasted time talking to pimps on phishing expeditions.

Sounds like you had an opportunity to really squeeze him on the rate!

A five day contract in Milton Keynes? That will just end in tears.

Likewise. I always get a burner sim for use while I'm looking. Once I'm in a contract I don't want them calling me and wasting my time.

When will it come to a cinema near me?
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

What a plonker ... he forgot to ask for the two references.

                      Hello, Toby.

And what Robin Cross of Noir Consulting was thinking of, I cannot imagine. Has he really got that double-barrelled surname? Hello, RobinCrossBollox.

Also, hello to Danny of Connex too.
