For the past 10 years I have had to constantly re train, pass exams and gain the qualifications just to get the £250 £300 per day Infrastructure jobs, if I'm lucky
Someone enlighten me please what roles command such rates?
Of course, as many threads on this forum have shown, Investment Banking isn't everyone's cup-o-tea.

I would love to know how to pick up a £500 per day role. I work in central London with a finance background. Where am I going wrong? How many years of experience are required?
Where do I begin?Comment

Proximity Results are: LONDON (ENG) + 25 Miles (435 Jobs)
There are just under 80 jobs in the £600-£850 / day range.
I'd say at least 3 years experience. But you may get lucky with less, if you have the right sort of background (i.e. you've already done something very similar to what the client is looking for on your last project.)

Do I need to focus more on the project side? Focus on a technical skill? Could you provide some examples?
And the IT Jobs Watch website is misleading. Look closely at the number of respondents to their survey. Some only have 1 respondent. Hardly a reliable sample group....Comment

As others have said (and me) do some research of your own: only you know what your skills are. Look on Jobserve and scan the job ads to see what's hot and what's not. That's what I and all other sensible contractors do. It's always very difficult to try and second-guess the market, but I've found a good scan of Jobserve to be very worthwhile.
