    Rate Cut

    Hi Guys..

I have been on a role in Geneva since last year January and it has been rolled over till June this year.

Client are willing to extend till the end of the year but with a rate cut of almost 30%. Agency is not really willing to absorb any part of this cut.

Market is dead..!!!, agency does not really mind if another agency comes in to take contract over.

I am left in the cold, what do I do...??

Can you contract direct? If the agency doesn't mind missing out altogether, then might be worth getting them to sign to say so, and approach the client about paying you the agency charge rate - that way you only lose 10-20% dependant on the margin of the agency?

    Hope that helps

Have you proposed this to the company?
If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.

Swiss setup is slightly different to how things operate in UK.

Most roles have to be done through a payroll company and very difficult to setup a company here.

Either accept the rate cut or don't not really anything else too it.

Try to get a 4 day week or something similar for the rate cut.

Is the agency different to your payroll company? If so, where's the harm in going direct and putting the contract through the payroll company? I admit that I haven't worked in Geneva, but I would be surprised if the above option is not possible. If it is not possible, then now is a good time to find another agency and ask them to take on the contract.

Indeed. Its not rocket science is it? Although apparently to some contractors it is because they can't work out whether 70% of something is better than 100% of nothing!
