Change representation

I've come here for some advice, I've been a little (ok a lot) naive.

I have stupidly given an agent an email to represent me to a client co not just for a single role. Now they are turning out to be far from helpful. This email has found it's way to another agent who is helpful but can not proceed due to my email, I'm not even sure that they are the same roles.

How can I change agent representation as they are not fulfilling any promises & deceived me at the start about the end client and now can't even send me a job spec. I feel completely played by this agent (initials of agent are V.E. I’ll let you guess). (views on this agent?)

So can I write them an email retracting their representation and inform other agents I have done this with a copy of the email or am I getting in to litigation territory. Or do I just put it down as one to learn from and forget about the role(s).

Any other ideas/options, should I tried contacting the client co's procurement team?

i am failing to understand the gist of your post. have you been introduce to the client as yet by this agent?

I think I get it. Send an email to the original agent, cc'd to the new one, saying you no longer wish them to represent you.

btw - you don't even have to do that. Your only naivity is believing that your original email is at all binding. v.e. haven't a leg to stand on, are are relying on you being scared.

Right to clarify, I sent an email to agent 1 giving them right to represent me of a role, however the email read for the client. The job was description was vague and the location was a general area.

I had a call agent 2 who had submitted me to the same company at a different location, for a similar role. This agent was not able to proceed due to being presented with the above email. Agent 1 can not find out about this 2nd role and is asking me to supply the job spec to them...

The reason for these emails is to prove "ownership" to the end client - it has to be specific per role, and must state your name and the job you want the agent to put you forward for. It's not a binding contract, it's a fail safe so that if a decent agent has had a 40 minute conversation with you, qualified you, collated references etc, they don't get stiffed by the unscrupulous agent who just pings CV's all over the place, in the hope that something sticks.

I've had to use it countless times - there are alot of sharks out there who just forward CV's from job boards and hope.

Just rescind the email, and work with the agent who has been helpful.

In response to this, I have spammed your CV to every company in the UK, and have therefore covered you in terms of opportunity - if nothing comes from this, then you're just unemployable - it's not my fault.

If you could just send me two references so I could add them to my database and never actually call them about you then I will make sure I follow this up for you.

I would also point out that owing to market conditions I have marketed your CV at a rate to you of £108 per day, plus VAT obviously. Owing to the state of the market, we are also taking a 180% margin on this particular placement.
