Anyone used a CV writing service

I'm getting no love from the pimps - its obviously my cv because I've not had an interview for a month.

I've been quoted £350 which I am prepared to do, but I thought I'd check with my learned colleagues here - any recommendations?

Obviously? Did you use a different CV before? Maybe you should go back to using the old CV!

Or perhaps, another possibility, and it's only a small possibility, it's do with state of the economy. Not busting, brown fixed that, but still something up with it.

      Just a thought.

        Dear God...

You didn't even need to use the Search button.

Just look a couple of posts down - to the one with "CV" in the title....

Ive used one - around 6 years back - and if I can be REALLY honest youll learn more on the net and getting a good rated book off amazon.

Those charging £300 are a con - its just another online money making scheme - where they pitch is to that they compare the measely cost of £300 when you can secure another job with a £10k pay rise!!

I just read alot of cv writing books in WHSmiths lol - and then if I recall bought some off Amazon that were rated - and obv looked online.

Key thing is experience, simple, keywords and easy to read. You gota think - WHY should they pick you - and so you need to get the key bits over to them in simple easy to view format.

Offer £350 cash to the first agent who finds you a gig.

The reason I think its my CV is because I've applied for jobs for which I know I'm a perfect match and I don't even get a call from the agency. When I follow up by phone I can win them around and in a handful of cases my CV has gone forward to the client - mostly perm jobs.

My friends & colleagues who have taken the time to read the CV say its an excellent CV, but recruiters who just skim it (I presume) don't see that great content - otherwise I would be sitting pretty right now.

I've taken the advice here and in the other threads - today I am re-organising my CV, cutting down further and removing the multitude of bullets which describe the tasks I have been responsible for. In their place, I will put details of where I have distinguished myself. People know what a PM does (risks & issues, weekly status reports, planning & replanning, etc.); I am missing examples like how I put failing projects back on track by establishing a new way forward.

To be honest, you would be better off burning £350 with a ciggie lighter and sticking sharp needs into your veins than to get "Professional CV reviews" done. There are links on this site that gives you all you need to know how to improve your CV. The best person who can improve your CV is you. Not some numpty who thinks they know best and then rip you off.
If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.
