What is the going rate for a BA in London these days? I thought I knew, but recently the top rate seems to have dropped radically.

Rule #76: No excuses. Play like a champion. -
I've heard from numerous sources that over the past 6 months the big companies have started hiring again, and that rates have gone up quite a bit. I've heard this from agents with contact with software jobs (C++ etc) in Telecoms, Finance etc. My experience confirms this, though things are well down from the boom 5 years back.Originally posted by WageSlaveWhat is the going rate for a BA in London these days? Wildly dependent on the sector. Some telcos are offering £300/day, some investment banks are offering £600/day.Originally posted by WageSlaveWhat is the going rate for a BA in London these days? I thought I knew, but recently the top rate seems to have dropped radically.Comment

£300 corresponds with what I'm being quoted
Damn those investment banks, refusing to consider me simply because I know nothing about banking, investing or financial services

Well a big investment bank has thrown out an outsourcer and is hiring a lot of C++ programmers but at cheaper rates 300 plus.
Only specialised staff with specific knowledge of some business area or product eg Murex can command 600 quid.I'm alright JackComment

Rates for senior BAs don't seem much higher at the moment.
Business Analyst. On behalf of my government client I am seeking a Junior BA (2-3 years experience) to contribute to strategic enhancements on a key public sector initiative. Your role will be to capture and document requirements, participate in stakeholder meetings, work closely with the technical team, identify risks, prepare documentation and take part in project reviews. Candidates should have experience of Business Analysis on large complex projects, IT analysis and knowledge of methodologies eg MSF, RUP etc, mix of business and technical skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, knowledge of project management practices. Specific knowledge of systems integration and connective technology eg Web services, XML etc and/or any previous eGovt projects would be desirable. This is an excellent opportunity for a relatively Junior BA to get experience on a high profile government sector assignment.
Location London
Country England
Start Date October 2005
Rate 275-295/DayComment

I think that's more a case of "we'll call it a junior position so we don't have to pay as much". You'd probably arrive and find out you're the project manager, which has happened to me.Comment

I wouldn't mind that. The rate they quote might actually be a big increase for meOriginally posted by Lucifer BoxI think that's more a case of "we'll call it a junior position so we don't have to pay as much". You'd probably arrive and find out you're the project manager, which has happened to me.
