Nope... but it allows me to maintain a wide network of friends. I have found contracts for people and told them about it.Originally posted by shaggy View PostSo, has your LinkedIn profile found you a new contract or is it a pretentious waste of time?
If you are going to use LinkedIn purely to find work and not to network with people, then you would be wasting your time. If you are going to use LinkedIn for the purpose of networking in hope of getting new work, it's worth the while. You never know when it may come in handy. I haven't found new contracts yet, but that isn't my only goal with LinkedIn.If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here. -
I have been contacted many times for roles via linkedin.
The trick is to add yourself to "groups" that are of interest to you. Agents search on these groups.

Agents start these groups to gather together people with a particular range of skills and/or experience. It's another channel to market for them. However, as I like to be in control of my own job searches, I tend not to join these groups.Originally posted by themistry View PostI have been contacted many times for roles via linkedin.

I'm a member but I've not yet had any contacts or work from joining it. I thought it was mainly USA-based.
It's Deja-vu all over again!

I've had some phone interviews and developed some good contacts, not got a job out it yet.
Its not just in the USA - seems pretty widely used around London. This default font is sooooooooooooo boring and so are short usernamesComment

I have been approached by former colleagues that I have kept in touch with on there about new work several times. I have also used it when being interviewed for new roles by searching for the interviewers profiles and seeing if we have any common connections. This has proved useful in interviews several times for me.
Beware that agents scour it and the number of cold calls you get from them will increase the more detail about your experience and skills you put on there.Comment
