    Fixed price

Has anyone else noticed the increase in the number of cleçients offering fixed price contracts? Spoke to an agent this morning. The rate worked out at half of my normal daily rate!!

Do they not know we have tax, NI and expenses to cover as well as allow for any down time?!

Do you mean "fixed price" or "fixed term"?

Rates seem to be dropping all over the place. Security jobs that would have been in the £450-£500 bracket 3 months ago are below £300 a day now.

At this rate I will be better off going permie for the duration until things pick up again.

So do the contract in a quarter of the time - this will give you double your daily rate.

The fixed price no doubt relates to the amount of time required and be paid by the day. If he does it quickly, they will save even more by not needing to pay him for all the time. Walk away unless desparate.

I know what you mean! It´s tempting to do the same - even with if New Liebour adopt (aka steal) Cameron´s point about VAT and NI holidays.

Sounds good in theory but impossible in practice - especially when you are dependant on others to get your work completed.
