Roc Search
Roc Search.
To be fair I had made the call to pimp to follow up on a genuine role for which I had applied. When it turned out that my skillset didn't quite match what the client would want, pimp turned his attention to going through my CV and asking quite straight-out, "Who was your manager at xxx in 2012?"
Call ended quite quickly after that.
A question for people: do you tend to keep your professional cool with agents who are clearly fishing for sales leads, or do you "let them know" somehow that they're being unprofessional bast***s? My preference is usually for the latter...Comment

ROCSearch are the worlds worst by a mile....
I must admit if I see a role advertised by them I often look to see if anyone else has got it rather than deal with them.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

The guy was obviously really good at shortlisting as he'd only just joined the firm.
I don't know how I avoided calling up for a ten minute discussion about where I'd worked before and who my "managers" were. It was a difficult decision to make.
Do people really fall for the really obvious lead generating emails?Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

Precious topic.
I received a call with a very interesting role but they ask for the references before moving forward with the application. It sound strange to me but with the excitement I gave it. I never received any feedback from them.
It was the 1st time and the last. Next time I had the same situation and the answer was “sorry I only give references after a successful interview”.
With this topic, now I understand why.
Thank you so much.Last edited by Bee; 19 November 2015, 19:23.Comment

3 Years... your kidding, right?
"3 years employment references (Name of Referee, Relationship, Contact Details.). Any gaps of 30-89 days will need to be covered by an email stating you were not in employment during this period, if the gap is 90 days or more we will require documentation to cover this such as bank statements, passport stamp if you were travelling, or JSA letters."
WTF? Its wrapped up as though this is a legal requirement.Comment

Hugh...you can guess the restSocialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.
No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.Comment

New (for me at least) variation on the 2 references question.
Spoke to the agent who found me on linkedin, all seemed ok, although he didn't want to mention the end client's name. But said he would forward my cv as soon as I send it to him and would reveal who the end client is as soon as the phone interview got confirmed. So I sent my cv and got this reply:
I would definitely like to get you a Phone Interview with the Client.
Also, I noticed that you haven’t worked with us before, and the Client expects our candidates to be pre-screened, so we would need to do a quick skill check when setting up an interview.
Basically, it’s a 2 minute conversation with any two Managers who you reported to over the last 2-3 years, just to confirm that you worked there.
So would there be any two End Client Managers who can quickly confirm your skills?
Once that’s complete, I can also submit you for as many future roles as you like.Comment
