Hi, I'm a newbie potential contractor. My situation is that I applied for a job a month ago with an agency who submitted my CV. I heard nothing from the agency so I phoned for an update about 3 weeks ago and it sounded like nothing much was happening. Since then another colleague went through a different agency, had an interview, has got offer.
I then applied to this other agency via a collegue who recommended me for the job and told the original agency that I did not want them to represent me anymore.
Suddenly the first agency is fighting to keep me! Telling me the client is interested in me etc. They are saying I have to use them or my application with be thrown out completely as there are legal issues. I told them to go away as I chose not to believe them, but they still left the decision with me.
Now new agency has said client asked them to put my application on hold while this gets sorted out. I have explained the situation to them saying I still want them to represent me.
So my question is does this sounds like an agency ploy to try to keep me with them? Surely I can go with whatever agency I prefer? Am I too mistrusting!
