My understanding is that most DCAs buy the debts they track down..i.e. blockbuster essentially sells their debt to the DCA (who pay's significantly less than the debt I might add).

No DCA is going to bother with such a low amount surely?

This might only apply to the finance/banking sector though...

Telewest had sodded up my final statement before I moved from Scotland to England, when they couldn't get hold of me for the 2p they passed it on to a debt collection agency who spent about 2 months tracking me down.

All that cost for 2p! Which in the end they just wrote off because it was their mistake!

Don't underestimate the stupidity of jobsworths.....

A previous occupant of my flat skipped off owing BB less than 10 quid.

I received several letters from the collecting agency before they realised that they were wasting their time.

We had some tenants who legged it and it is amazing how many debts they had managed to run up in 6 months. I was tidying up the mess they left behind and there was a constant stream of very nice looking blokes at the door asking for their whereabouts. We found out where they had gone and my Mrs printed out multiple copies of their full details to make it easy for the debt collectors
