Debt Collection From Block Buster Video

My gf took out two DVDs from Blockbuster a while back using my Block Buster card. Was going through my paper work today and opened a letter which I thought was just a ad from BlockBuster, it wasnt it was a letter from them telling me if I didnt pay a £6 fine by 27th April they would pass the debt on to a Debt Collecting Agency.

I get credit checked for ever gig so cant have anything dodgy on my credit record, I understand it may show on my credit record as a late payment, but now its in the hands of the debt collecting agency what does that mean, I will pay the £ tomorrow but Im worried now what impact the debt going to the debt collecting agency will have on my credit record, anyone know ?

I think I'm right in saying that it only goes on your credit record if it goes to Court and you get a CCJ against you.

It's different for banks/loans etc as they have direct links with the credit agency so a non-payment may show fairly quickly.

I would be surprised if they've sent the case on to debt collection agency already.

To be honest, I'd be surprised if they ever sent a £6 fine to a debt collection agency. I think they are just saying that to scare you into paying. Which it looks like they have done successfully

Phone them up and be adamant that you returned the DVD on time, blame some 16 year old lazy git for not checking the 24 hour drop box or working the computer correctly. Then tell them if they don't drop the £6 fine you'll make an official complaint to head office and switch to using lovefilm.com because you can't be doing with the hassle of dealing with the incompetent fools at Blockbuster.

          Blockbuster still exist?

I've had a Vodafone £5 bill outstanding for years. They never try to claim it and I never tried to pay it. I did a credit check last week and found it on there - but not as a negative, just as a statement. So it's not a problem.

I used to work with someone whose wife worked for Vodafone doing debt collection. If you want to PM me your real name and address, I'll happily pass it on.

I had a debt collection agency chasing me last year on behalf of Pipex for money I'd already paid them. All they ever did was send letters promising bailifs. My intention was to wait for a bailf to show up, and then tell them I'd paid in order to waste as much of their time and money as possible, but they never did, and after 6 months or so I just sorted it out with Pipex.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

I rang them up and Block Buster said they couldnt do anything now as it had already been passed onto the Debt Collecting Agency for a £6 frigging fine probably ended having to pay something silly as the debt collecting agency will charge me a fee.

It was my mistake, but the old Block Buster I used would just debt the CC they had on record for me to cover a fine. Block Buster should also do themselves a favour and make these letter look different to there usual marketing cr*p as thats why I didnt originally open it I just thought it was junk mail.

Had a little rant at them in the branch yesterday, can safely say I am now banned from my local Block Buster, not that I ever used it.

I once got a letter from a debt collection agency for £0.02......

Telewest had sodded up my final statement before I moved from Scotland to England, when they couldn't get hold of me for the 2p they passed it on to a debt collection agency who spent about 2 months tracking me down.

All that cost for 2p! Which in the end they just wrote off because it was their mistake!
