If you're new to the Uk, you better wise up to the fact that, brits are generally a pessimistic bunch, and will moan whatever.

So I never take much stock in what people say.

How ironic - I was thinking about trying Oz (or preferably NZ) - I decided to leave the permie world in the summer and tried like crazy to get a gig to no avail. I'd pretty much resigned myself to being a prisoner of the dilbert style of management - then finally got a gig in December - then got offered two better ones since . I guess the truth is you just can't tell!
