I would only take on staff that are smaller than you...the consequences are endless otherwise...

Hi DaveP, I'm Deborah, let me tell you where I am on this...

Firstly, i've clearly got a chip on my shoulder as I'm an ugly woman, I don't like it when good looking women come into my Den as it highlights how ugly I am. Secondly, as a woman in business with a chip on her shoulder, I clearly have to be overly agressive in my tone to make myself appear tougher...

so, for those reasons, I'm out.... of the closet!

They only time I've seen someone do this successfully is a friend who was contacted direct by a couple of clients he'd done work for a while back.

It was well over a year since he'd done any work for either of them but had obviously left a good impression so he agreed terms with them direct. As part of the deal he agreed that he would either do the work himself or would provide someone just as capable and he would take full responsibility for the work.

He sub contracts this work to other contractors he's worked with and who he rates and knows are competent - he creams about £100 a day off each one.

It won't make him a millionaire but he's since got his own contract elsewhere so he's happy.

I enjoyed Peter Jones's comment to the guy pushing an online dating website. It went along the lines of "I am rich, good looking and don't struggle to get dates. Therefore I am out."

Known a couple of contractors who did do that although they only supplied to the big company they contracted for.

I'm willing to take a punt on this, but that's all it is, a punt. Therefore I will take 100% of your company and you can just clear off.

did anyone else notice that Peter Jones has worn the same blue shirt and brown pin stripe suit for 2 weeks?

EDIT: I only know this as gf pointed out last week that I have both bright blue shirt, plain brown tie and brown pin stripe and never wear them as a combo..
