I think bar staff are in high demand at the moment so he should be ok.

Finished first gig at end of august and it took me just over 2 weeks to get this one, I even spoke to an agent who was worried about their job! Unfortunately hadn't built up much of a safety fund! Came very close. NOTE TO SELF: save more during "the good times"

Talking to agents in the last day or two it's starting to pick up nicely now!

I've been searching for about four weeks now, having handed in my notice on the 30th Aug, and it has been very slow.

Mostly agent's doing the fish for references and "we'll add you to the DB" spiel... the only interviews I've had have been from direct contact with the companie involved.

        Hope it picks up soon!

It took me 3 months this summer to get a contract to my liking (i.e. my sector, technologies, usual rate, & ideally walkable). First month wasn't trying; second month tried hard but got nowhere; third month bottled it and started using ag**cies.

Where are we talking about? London? Or all around the country? I think London is still looking allright.

I'd say it's picking up again in my sector (infrastructure support/tech arch). I've had several phone calls in the last week and my hubby accused me of sending his CV to agencies cos he's had 4 calls this week - and he's a permie (same sector)!

I'm ok until Feb though, so not looking.

Spoke to an agent this week who told me how slow they were finding the Oracle market. I thought that was strange, since I've had a few calls this past week asking about my availability with decent sounding roles.

                    Market definitely tightening

Well, my experience over the last 4 weeks is that the market is tightening in a big way. I have had the likes of Shell with their multibillion pound profit withdrawing contract roles and filling them internally instead. When a company with that much money tries to save a few quid the situation must be dire.

Shell and BP are suffering in a different way to much of the market - for example, read the current profits statement from BP.

Mind you, it's actually a good time to buy their shares.
