unemployed, you have my sympathy. I too know what it is like having to deal with these people. You might like to have a read of this amusing article where someone gets their own back on agents:

Regarding the Nigerians, I too know of a place where more or less all the contractors in a section were of this type. But why? they got the same rate as the locals and were of a mix of abilities, some good some not so good. Though I did catch one person cheating on his hours A memo to all contractors reminding them of their obligations made this one take the hint and they left.

Great! I couldnt resist posting a comment, seems the idea of creating a database of agents/agencies/postings is not unique!

Perm or contract? Do you think your nervousness shows in the interviews? It's really important that you demonstrate assertiveness and confidence in interviews, especially in contract ones.

I guess it's not so important to come across as a tiger in permo interviews, as you'll need to demonstrate that you're willing to be the subordinate and pander to control freak management driven working practices.

both are perm roles , i see very little incentive to work as a contractor for rates that are around the £20 mark.

i have never worked in a control freak management driven company, i have been quite lucky in that respect , my last company would not even notice if i turned up 2 hours late and left 2 hours early
