      Yes I can .

Would you mind describing here what your skills/experiences are. I’ve been looking for 3 weeks now. I get many agent calls , had 2 client interviews but yet nothing.

There are certain technologies that I want to do ( e.g. MS MOM consulting) and I have hands-on skills with these gained in a Lab ( plus some real-life experience) . I can argue that I am no worse than someone who did install it for a client. But still , the agents seem to think that having gained skills in a lab means nothing. It is a stereotype for them - you have to have done it at a client. I've been a good boy so far and haven't lain ( too much ) yet but these agents are just asking for it. ( Don't worry I am not doing anything stupid like the recent events )

I am also being pissed off by Agents. Frankly I didn’t like that sales staff at my perm job either. They are people who sell you anything no matter you need it or not. They don’t care about the consultant nor the client.

i have 10 years of support experience which is considered lowly nowadays unless you are some high flying developer who is lucky enough to still have a job that has not been subbed to india.

sadly lab work is worth nothing they are correct, same as mcse qualifications without experience.

it is frustrating i have been looking for a year and have nearly given up now.

well done for knowing the 7 layer osi model sadly i dont get that excited about IT as some people here lol it is mearly a means to a end.

          Please
          Do
          Not
          Throw
          Sausage
          Pizza
          Away

          All
          People
          Seem
          To
          Need
          Data
          Processing

"route print" is the command to show the routing tables on a Windows server if memory serves correct.

My favourite question is "you've got an NTFS drive and need to revert it back to FAT32 - what's the command to do that?"

I've had that one so many times it's rediculous.

Knowing the names of the 7 layers of the OSI shouldn't be hard.

When I went on a Must Consult Someone Else course a few years back I heard quite a good one that went something like:

              Princess
              Diana
              N
              T
              S
              P
              A

Can't remember the rest but it was a goodun!

worked as 2nd 3rd line support mainly on servers and some desktop work.

i have applied for at least 300 jobs on the usual jobserve cwjobs etc.
but nearly 95% of these f**king agencies dont call or even reply with an email.

anyone got any advice or should i forget the nerd work of computers and do something else.
The company that I am contracting just got rid of all the UK desktop contractors and promptly brought in to brought in a dozen Nigerian desktop contractors to replace them.

im sure there any many ways to remember it , but why ask in the first place ?

its a pointless question. you will never need it doing support

other questions went along the line of please tell me how you would update a lmhosts file.

from memory it has an example of how to do it once you open it in notepad
                  so read that. and follow.

"no i need you to tell me" had enough

If they expect you to remember the exact syntax they are just insane.
