You appear to have met some "dorks' without "street smarts" and for that reason you think my kids going to elite schools is a waste of money.

    1. I went a tuliphouse state school and most of the guys I went to school with ended up in low paid work.

    2. Most of the kids that leave my daughters school go on to prestigious universities and highly paid professional work. (last year alone saw exits such as multiple oxbridge medics, kings lawyers, and various other top-end exits for most of the kids, they turn out these calibre of kids year-on-year).

Maybe I should disregard point 2 because you happen to have met some "dorks".

    - The immigration firm that dealt with my wifes visa source their new hires from the private school networks, they also charge 300 - 600 per hour.
    - Most doctors and surgeons in the private hospital where two of my children were born were privately educated

Watch out for those dorks though!

What? There are plenty of well scoped contracts for security engineers and architects to design and BUILD a new solution focussed on security.

None of those outcomes are mutually exclusive with being a dork with 0 street smarts. They're probably very happy with it, however.

Ok, my kids can be dorks with zero street smarts but at the same time they can be in the top 1% earner, have multiple passports, and have the ability to go and work wherever they want.

Nah, **** it, I'll send them to the local piece of tulip state school instead

But the point was that security still has money to spend - it's other areas like BI where cost cutting is occurring because the Return on investment can't be justified.

It's easy to justify security spending because there are large fines and reputation damage if you don't keep security up to date.

Years ago I applied for a contract that looked like a perfect match, didn't get it. Agent said he didn't put me forward because I didn't have XML listed on my CV

I went to a state secondary school and my best buddy went to a private one. He was struggling academically so it was a way for him to get more help with smaller class sizes. From the age of about 15/16 the amount of insanity that took place with the rest of his private school friends was way beyond anything I saw at my state school.

Teenagers + AWOL parents + money + alcohol + drugs + stealing parents cars + lets damage anything we see = carnage on a weekly basis.

Not all state schools and colleges are the same.

What sort of jobs do you so that require street smarts - do you grift on the streets with a Three Card Monte operation?

I have worked with people who obtained maths degrees whilst teenagers and Oxbridge PhDs before most regular people had graduated. They could barely dress themselves properly but **** me they were smart.

My CV is an XML document.

I get passed over for roles as well.
