    A contract is only any help when you fall out. And even thin it's not really much help as all it does it state employment law.
    Restrictive covenants are about the only extra value an employer might want but they are often unenforceable.

    Worry more if the person is likely to be employed beyond 2 years. That's when you want a contract as that's when they start to get actual rights.
    Rights, what are those? Why do you think that a restrictive covenant is not enforcable? I certainly wouldn't want my clients pinching my staff.

      You'd be better off with a clause in the contract with your client to stop them poaching staff.
