About home working, do you simply log on to the office network as a secure remote terminal, comunicate via email with the use of Zoom for meetings, or is it, as I expect much more complex than that.

Seems an odd question, but pretty much as you say..!
Wake up, put some clothes on (optional), login via Citrix or similar using own equipment. Open Teams for comms, and work away on office apps as required and dial into Teams meeting.
The extreme rise of remote working, in my opinion, is arguably the best thing to happen to the employee/contractor in the last 100 years. We've been spoilt with the increased level of flexibility, savings in time and money on commuting, and able to work in a more comfortable space. I genuinely couldn't face the prospect of being back in an office for 4-5 days a week. -
