i'm new to contracting and was looking for some advise regarding a contract i have signed up to and so has the agency.
however the various checks are taking a long time and the start date has already elapsed.
currently it is at the crb check stage and though i have been told it will be done in next couple of days but i know this could take weeks.
i just wanted to know other contractors' experience , as i'm concerned it might fall through altogether.....
I had this problem, and despite the agency's protestations to sit tight, I ended up calling the CRB agency (in this case, Disclosure Scotland)

It turned out that they hadn't done something to progress it after 2.5 months waiting which the person on the phone corrected, and I was onsite within a week or so.

You'll find this a lot, but you sometimes have to chase every entity/department involved in processing something to get things done (you'll find this again around renewal time)

Get in there and chase things up a bit.
