Certificate of good standing from Companies House

I have the opportunity to contract direct to a client, which seems to be good news.

I am being asked to provide a few things, most of which I can easily do, however, they are requesting a certificate of good standing from Companies House. Something that shows that I am a decent fine upstanding chap and have not been struck off.

I have had a look on the Companies House website and quite frankly it is not very good. From what I can tell, I need to sign up for a monthly £4 subscription fee. I also need to pay £15 for the Certificate, which is fair enough.

    Any recommendations or suggestions?

    How about...

Speak to the client and ask them exactly what this means and what format they want. They will probably tell you exactly how to get it.

If that's not clear then speak to Companies House and ask them what you would need in this position.

The power of actually speaking to people can be staggering......

      From https://www.gov.uk/government/organi...-our-services:

Orders and prices of certified copies and certificates
You can place an order through:

the Companies House contact centre on +44 (0)303 1234 500
      one of our information centres
the Companies House Direct online service
There are 2 different types of service:

standard service at £15 - processed within 4 working days
same day service at £50 - processed that day for orders placed before 2pm, or processed next working day for orders placed after 2pm
You can see a full list of fees for certified copies in our price list.

Certificate orders are issued by post (Recorded Delivery) or you can request to collect your certificate from one of our offices.

We can provide a fax copy or email a PDF copy of the official certificate on request. This service is only available on same day requests. Fax or email copies will not be signed. Only the official certified certificate will be signed.

Companies House are not responsible for any costs incurred after you’ve received your order (eg courier or legalisation costs).

The good standing wording states that a company has been in continuous, unbroken existence since its incorporation and that no action is currently being taken to strike the company off the register.

Would Duedil not be able to provide this? Free to join (or was when I did).

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

In the end I called Companies House directly and got it all easily sorted, passed it on to the client and started the contract today!
