How many years as a Permie before you took the leap into contracting?

Started off as a Project Support Officer straight from uni, then PMO, then PM, then found my home as a BA which I have been doing for the past 6 years in insurance, telecoms and public sector. I wouldn’t necessarily advocate doing it this way – with hindsight it would have been much better to learn my trade as a permie and then make the jump, but that is the way which it worked for me and I’ve really enjoyed the experience.Comment

4 years perm (single firm straight out of uni)
9 years contract
5 years retail business owner
6 years perm

5 years permie - had 3 permie jobs in that time, moved roles a lot: support, advanced support, sales support, presales, field engineer, junior pm.
then went contracting for the last 10 years as PMComment
