    I dont like driving.

I have a real aversion to clocking up miles on my car.

    It's also a nasty commute.

Maybe I'll just find something else

Shame, because I was going to be doing Jenkins.

      Get an earlier train?

I'm not sure why you are asking. If you have to be there at 8 am and you can't be sure of getting there by 8 am because train/taxi isn't reliable enough, it's simply not an option.

If there is a taxi rank and there are always taxis available, then you don't have an issue. If not, then you have to either leave earlier or drive (and hope there is no smashup on the motorway that makes you late). It's not really something we can answer unless someone has a window overlooking the train station and they've been watching the taxis queuing up and waiting for fares all day every day.

The original question was has anybody block booked a taxi on an ongoing basis & did it show every day?

What I mean is book a taxi to be there ever day at 7:45 am & 4::30 pm for the next 3 months.

Also was it possible to cut a deal?

I don't want to mess around with taxi ranks.

I've done something similar for a gig years ago. It was based up in Perthshire. After trying different modes of transport to get there, I found the easiest was to cut a deal with a chauffeur company. Used to fly into Edinburgh Airport and have someone waiting for me (I did try driving it, but it used to kill me 300 miles on a Monday Morning).

I suppose the benefit of this over a Taxi, was we had a form of contract and they'd invoice me monthly. Also, if my flight was delayed they would arrange for a driver to still be waiting for me and there was a greater deal of flexibility.

My suggestion would be to call round a few and ask. It was 42 miles from Airport to client site, worked out a lot cheaper than a taxi twice a week.

Oh and the flam was a Merc S-Class, bit better than a hackney carriage or similar.

Don't take the gig then. We became contractors because the flexibility and the fact we can pick and choose gigs. Don't choose this one.

couple of yrs ago I was working in Yorkshire (commuting from Sth of Mcr)and client had a daily taxi for people from/to the station, it was OK but sometimes my train arrived in late so would have to get the bus, also taxi would not not always show on time particularly at night so it would be a bit of sprint (jog in my case) to get the right train - it worked OK'ish in summary. Don't know what taxi's are like in Swindon, you should be able to get a reasonable rate but more importantly is getting there easily

Thanks. I hadn't thought of that.
