What (I think) makes a recruitment company great
Of all the many agencies I've used over the last 10 years, three stand out, for these reasons: Being upfront about the margin they are taking; Agreeing to pay me weekly (after I asked); At the point of negotiating the contract - just asking for what they need/ want (as opposed to asking pointless questions, chit-chat, etc.); Being easily accessible, before and after the contract is signed/ finalised - I had direct/ fixed names for the Agent, the person who deals with contact, finance/ payroll, etc. If I am late submitting my timesheet they will send me an email, so I don't miss out on my payment. Outside of my contract with them I asked them to provide a reference and they did so quickly and nicely. Their contract is electronic, making finalising it quick and easy. Quick to change the contract wording when I asked. Contacted the client before the end of the contract to confirm whether or not it would be extended. Fast tracked finalising the contract by not waiting until the results of the police check had come through - proof of me paying for/ submitting the check was sufficient. Keep in touch with me post-contract - occasional newsletters, any roles I might be suitable for/ interested in - without being pushy or inundating me with emails, calls, etc. Pre contract checks, questionnaires, etc. were negligible - and when present it was clear that this was at the specific request of the client. Nice/ pleasant (as opposed to overbearing/ pushy) telephone manner.
All three were small/ medium sized agencies, so this probably had something to do with it.
