Vanessa, to be honest most contractors go through a nasty experience with a client sooner or later, mostly during the first few contracts, some clients even refuse to give notice money, make all kind of claim to avoid giving you notice or justify end of their contract.. its very unfair and very very hurtful not to mention will shake your confidence and trust in clients… but trust me, the minute you start your new contract and you’ll feel so different and feel so much better, you have the option of going through courts etc, and I believe someone here did (Marillion Fan I think) but you end up losing a lot more money than gaining not to mention all the emotional and mental stress that you’ll have to go through, so like everyone else said, focus all your energy in getting a new contract first and then once that is done look back and reflect on your experience there, even though none of this was your mistake perhaps you can see how you can avoid such situations in the future.

So if they don't pay, have a look at payontime.co.uk and find out what you can do to chase the debt. You have every right to be paid for the work that you did, so make sure you don't roll over on this one at least.
It's unfortunate the way the client has behaved - they don't need to make up excuses to get rid of you, that's why you're a contractor not a permanenet employee - but all you can do from here is to make sure you get the invoice paid, and start looking for something else. Hopefully you'll find something in the vicinity of your current lease, which would be a big bonus.

Step 1 is to send all signed time sheets to the agency and an invoice for the amount covered by those time sheets.
Step 2 is to either get the other days covered by a signed time sheet by asking someone who was at the end client and had the authority to sign time sheets and send that plus an invoice to the agency or to send a second unsigned time sheet to the agency and an invoice for the days you were at the end client sat in their premises and no more. That means a half / quarter day for the day you were asked to leave at most. Then wait a month and pass it to a debt collection agency to retrieve.
Then wait to see if they pay you and if not pass it on to a debt collection agency and finally a solicitor - if you want to go that far...Last edited by eek; 22 July 2016, 17:41.merely at clientco for the entertainmentComment
