    2. Free medical (It's expensive in India)

Both of those things cannot be achieved if they come to the UK just for 2 years.

Having said that, it is a good opportunity for the IT companies like Infosys (Father-in-law), TCS, Wipro, Accenture, TechMahindra etc to send people constantly and continuously where by one guy will be here and the other experienced will shadow (Buy one get one free kind of schemes).

These schemes are towards enabling bigger companies to enable them to send their low-skilled resource that will be billed as high as they can.

If some one want to settle in the UK, they can't even get a sim (albeit lyca), they can't get their family here because of no credit score (therefore forced to live with 10 other guys) happen.
Re "Both of those things cannot be achieved if they come to the UK just for 2 years." sure they can. Come here for 2 years on a work visa, bring the kids they get free schooling here, plus anyone in the family with expensive medical condition will get free treatment. Also allowed to claim a lot of money tax free as supposed expenses that Brits working far away from home within the UK are not allowed to claim. Not to mention start and end mid tax year and they effectively get double tax allowance, as they get full tax allowance while only here half the tax year. And lots of other wheezes to undercut the locals.

you will find its much harder for a Brit to get a work visa to India than it is for an Indian national to get a work visa here, and none of the perks are reciprocal you will have to pay for your families healthcare and education and so much more

You guys don't have a clue
          • It is unlikely anyone with a stable job to want to come to the UK
            • You can get a person to do anything in India such as Washing, Driving, Cooking etc
          • 2K kids might want to come here to propel their instagram views (albeit missing their familiar foods etc).
Both will be used by the bigger companies and we as contractors have to hope something better will happen

if that were true the thousands and thousands of people born in India working for Cognizant, Infosys, Tata, Wipro etc etc would not be here.

What counts as a stable job?

There are many benefits to the west beyond money. I have never met an Indian immigrant who has regretted moving West. A few don't think it lived up to the hype, but overall they don't regret it.

Sure you don't get servants here, equally you don't get clean air in India.

UK Quarterly GDP came at 0% growth for Q3 2023. This is subject to revision and could easily be revised to negative soon.

UK GDP growth since Q1 2021:

                Q1 2021: -1%
                Q2 2021: 7.3%
                Q3 2021: 1.7%
                Q4 2021: 1.5%
                Q1 2022: 0.5%
                Q2 2022: 0.1%
                Q3 2022: -0.1% <- Contractor bear market starts at end of Q2 2022
                Q4 2022: 0.1%
                Q1 2023: 0.3%
                Q2 2023: 0.2%
                Q3 2023: 0.0%

The contract market and the economy was chugging along nicely until around Q2 2022, we been in the doldrums for 5 quarters now.

One's death report can be written in any form. It can be attributed to malnutrition, air, water or anything you want. Does it ring a bell when I say "fallacy of single cause".

When something happens, you cannot attribute it to a single cause. It's the accumulation of causes. If clean air was an issue, how come they are a populous nation?

If you had a european passport, where would you go as an IT contractor?

                    Asking to you all.

The situation does look dire in the UK.
